  • To be fair, I was in autistic class my whole life; basically an entire period each week dedicated to putting a bandaid over our unique personalities. And, one class was literally "How to Smile so as Not to Disturb the People Around You." In this class, a teacher told us to smile on command and when we didn't they'd stick their fingers in the edge of our mouths making a smile. The crux of the written material is people might think you're a psychopath if you're not constantly, near permanently smiling throughout the day, here's how not to freak out an entire small town. Other classes I remember were, "How to Colour like every other kid" and it was that technique where you'd outline the border of a picture with a marker and then shade the image itself with a similarly coloured pencil or crayon. or, "How to Have Normal Conversations." All these left us looking like socially inept over-eager weirdos who never shut up. But, yeah, a class teaching the EXACT OPPOSITE of what it was meant to, that's pretty on par with my education.

  • I was in the living room once and i asked my step dad to sit on the opposite side of the couch to sit with my mom, and he said no. i kept asking until he left, and i sat next to my mom. I got up for one second. And my brother took my spot. I tried to fake cry to make him move, (Cuz id worked so hard to sit there.) And he wouldn`t so, I actually ended up crying. He put his feet up where i wanted to sit, and every time i looked up at his feet there, i threw myself on the floor and started crying. over and over again.

  • the second one i see as more of an interesting project for parents to try and get their kids to do, especially kids who might "want to be a teacher when they grow up" and might have an interest in the process of education and is a good way to get them to learn to teach at a young age and reinforcing their learnings by them teaching what theyve learned in school themselves to their stuffed animals, i might sound a bit optimistic here but thats the way i see it

  • Here's my defence for the smiling article: If something absolutely aweful is happening and/or stressfull, I can get nervous laughter and/or nervous smile, where my muscles tense and I uncontrollably smile because of how much I hate the situation. Also I do believe some mental and physical disabilities could make for people who don't know how to use their face for emotions and thus look up social ethiquette on similing. Also just simple social anxiety could make you google something as dumb as "how to smile".

  • I spent my teen years in a frown, cause I thought my smile was ugly af. I got over it once I reach my 20s, n wanted to have a lighter aspect n be able to smile, but I actually had to spend months practicing every day to avoid having a heavy expression n to be able to smile cause my face muscles just weren't used to it. Nowadays, almost two years later, I still can't smile by command for photos for example, n sometimes I get back into the habit of having a heavy frown while just, you know, doing stuff. So yeah, I needed articles like those.

This means that I have rules that aren’t to complicated for my friends or little sister, so I think they’re meant for that purpose but maybe they just exist...

  • Generally, I’m usually in agreement w you, but there are plenty of scenarios when you smile when you’re in a bad mood. If you’re in customer service, you have to put on a smile for the customers even though your personal life is falling apart. So many situations where you’re among the public where you feel the need to force a smile when you may be in a bad mood.
